SkyDive Columbus
Safety

Safety is our primary concern at Skydive Columbus. Please understand that no one can ever 100% guarantee you that you will be perfectly safe. If they could, it would take all the fun out of skydiving! Nobody can assure you that any airplane and/or parachute system will never fail. In other words, there is no such thing as a perfect airplane! If there were, airplanes would not have so many redundant backup devices in them.

We have adopted tandem skydiving as our training method of choice because we believe it offers the safest method for anyone to start skydiving or to simply experience skydiving. Industry safety trends support that opinion. Part of the exhilaration is in performing an event that "seems" crazy...while actually enjoying it at the same time. Part of the training you receive, prepares you so that you can safely assume the risk and learn how to manage yourself to achieve your goal. All tandem instructors worldwide are trained to handle emergency procedures. We practice those regularly to maintain our proficiency.

Trust us...our best friends and family skydive with us, so we do everything we can to minimize the risks associated with skydiving. What are those things? Our aircraft is extremely well maintained and we only utilize very experienced FAA rated commercial pilots. Beyond the aircraft, we utilize state of the art equipment that we maintain on a very vigilant maintenance schedule. Our staff also includes one of Ohio's most experienced tandem instructors still actively performing tandem jumps.

After all the training in the world, nobody anywhere can ever guarantee perfect safety. This is skydiving we are talking about! In skydiving, just like any other type of extreme sport, there are rare moments when even if you do everything right, a person can still be injured or die. When you skydive you learn to manage that risk through proper training, experienced instructors and with the use of good equipment. When we are done jumping for the day, we like to go back home to our families!

All of our Tandem rigs utilize two parachutes, a main and a reserve. All tandem parachutes employ what is referred to as an Automatic Activation Device (AAD) on the reserve parachute. This device will deploy the reserve parachute at a predetermined altitude if it senses that the tandem is still in freefall.

2 thumbs up for safety at SkyDive Columbus in Ohio!
